Changing the entire color scheme and style vibe of your room doesn’t always mean you need to sell your current furniture and throw down thousands of dollars on new! The old adage that paint is the easiest way to transform a room can also applies to repainting and staining a hutch and dining room table. Here’s the original picture of the red hued dining room:
Below is beginning of the quick transformation with the first coat of General Finishes Java Gel on half of the table.
The homeowners were tired of big red and were looking for a softer and neutral look to compliment their new style. I painted the dining room table legs with General Finishes Linen colored milk paint and hand painted on General Finishes Van Dyke Brown glaze to give a distressed looked that mimicked a $2000 table seen in a Scottsdale furniture store.
Next, we said “Ba Bye” to big Red. The Persian Blue on the right door below seemed like it was going to be the perfect shade, but not so much for this piece. I mixed in about 25% of Coastal Blue to create the rich blue color on the left.
Finally, I painted the original oil rubbed bronze knobs with a metallic silver paint and faux painted the hinges in the same metallic silver.
Here’s the big reveal!!
