Let’s talk old school builder grade oak cabinets. Golden, peachy, tired, worn and well sort of dated. They’re everywhere and while the quality is still good, they probably don’t go with your current decor. You wish you could snap your fingers and change them….but that would be a pain and expensive, right? New cabinets can mean new countertops, plumbing fixtures, drywall patch and paint….ain’t nobody got time for that!
Restyling oak cabinets is much more simple than you may think. I used my favorite Java Gel stain by General Finishes and morphed this vanity into something more in sync with the Old World look throughout the rest of my house.
Oak, or any other cabinet material including veneer, can really benefit from a quick and easy restyle. The gel stain is a little bit of a longer process because of drying time between coats, but an upgrade using milk paint is pretty much instant satisfaction like the two vanities below.
If you’re in the Phoenix metro area I would love to restyle your bathroom vanity for you! If you’re not in the desert and enjoying fall weather somewhere I’m also available for consultation on your next home or office decor project via FaceTime, phone and email.
